VESI (Victoria) looks to Thor Poletest™ NDT to transform Timber Pole Condition Assessment in Australia

VESI (Victorian Electricity Supply Industry) is well underway with joint NDT trials for it’s 5 representative electricity distributor companies - CitiPower, Powercor, AusNet Services, Jemena and United Energy.

The Trial aims to substantiate the case for moving condition assessment of timber utility poles away from SDD (Sound Dig and Drill) which has long been considered unfit for purpose for effective serviceability, replacement, and fire risk management programmes in the information age. The trial is due to be complete in November 2021 with the results widely anticipated to satisfy the state regulator (Energy Safe Victoria) and provide the green light for energy distributers to quickly move to transform their timber pole inspection programmes.
